Biking, it's in our DNA
Summer 2013 - Bring it on!
We've been around bikes for as long as we have been around snowsports. Methven Mt Hutt Village is a great place for cycling of all disciplines. Situated at base of the mountain, Mt Hutt Bike Park has some of the best downhill and freeride trails in Canterbury.
The Methven Jump Park and Methven Walkway provide the action in town. Not to be left behind there is plenty of action for roadbikes and lycra. Great flat riding on uncrowded country roads, throw in the odd hill and a couple of nutty dive-bombing magpies in October and you have excitement plus.
Retail, Rental, Workshop
Big Al's has bike retail, bike rental and bike workshop facilities. Shimano and Sram certified bike guru Richie is here to service your machines. If he is out riding he is just a text away. Tyres, tubes, helmets, hydration, all those bits you need when you are on the go are available from Big Al's.

Bike Methven 679 X-C Race 5th January
The next event in Methven is the 679 X-C Race. 679 is the vertical metres on this cross country course. This is a great course through the Mt Hutt Bike Park cross country trails. There will be a novice loop for newbees that want to have a crack this will NOT be 679 vertical metres. Then there is the Advanced which will be 1 loop of an advanced loop 697 track. Then for the brave is the 679+2 Expert, twice around the advanced loop. A great way to get rid of the Christmas sloth. Some Big Al's goodies on the table for these races.
